Blossoms Headline Show in Stoke. 28/10, 7pm, Victoria Hall. Stockport indie rockers Blossoms (check out their big hit ‘Charlemagne’) are heading up Hanley this October, with support from Merseyside rockers Red Rum Club. The 20-date tour, which also includes dates at Nottingham’s Rock City (23/10) and Liverpool University (25/10), is to promote their latest album, Gary, which is released on 20/09. They say, “This album was recorded live so we can’t wait to play the new tunes and all your favourites at these great venues.” Tickets from £39.06.
Truly Dazzling: Bright Lights Over Bentilee. 27/09-12/10, shows at 1.30pm, 2.30pm & 7.30pm. Claybody Theatre. In 1967, dozens came forward to claim they’d seen a glowing saucer-shaped craft touch down in a field beside the Bentilee Housing Estate (check out this 1969 video from journalist Gwyn Richards, which includes eyewitnesses’ accounts). The Claybody Theatre has put together a thought-provoking production based on these bright lights and UFO sighting at its venue inside the Spode Works. Delve in further with a post-show talkback and UFO panel on 08/10. Tickets £15, concessions £13.
Showcasing Local Talent at Keele Uni Concert Pop-up. Keele University Clock House Courtyard, 01/09, 4pm-8.30pm. At music pop-up Honey Box Live, local alt rock bands FOARN and Koala and solo artists Johntay DB and Mara Liddle are among the acts, and the gig will be livestreamed through YouTube and Facebook from 7.30pm-8.30pm. Co-producer of the event, Lee Barber, says Stoke’s music scene is thriving right now across all genres. So how can we support it? In addition to getting along to this event, he says The Knot readers can, “listen to the Honey Box Spotify playlists and attend local gigs at the Underground, Captains Bar, The Sugarmill, The Rigger and Artisan Tap.” Tickets £10.
Free Forest Bathing Sessions for Burslem Residents. 02/09, 12.15pm. Tapping into the healing power of nature, forest bathing was originally prescribed to stressed-out Japanese salarymen in the 80s and is now gaining traction in the UK. Counsellor Jane Smith is hosting an introductory session that covers basic forest bathing exercises that can be completed in your garden or a local park. Secure your spot by registering at jane@clarity-psychotherapy.com. Free admission to Burslem residents and workers, £5 otherwise.
