👨🎨 Commemorating Arthur Berry. 23/08, 10.30am; start at Middleport Pottery. One of Stoke's most celebrated artists, playwrights and poets, for the final instalment of the Arthur Berry Summer Walking Tour in Stoke, led by local historian and author Mervyn Edwards. Setting off from Middleport Pottery, this guided walk will trace a route to Wolstanton High Street, uncovering the places and stories that inspired his vivid depictions of working-class life. Complementing the walks is the A Sense of Place Exhibition at Barewall Art Gallery (until 21/09).

TV presenter and Strictly winner Stacey Dooley and Strictly’s Kevin Clifton star as fictional couple Sam and Jenny in this chilling supernatural thriller. They’re joined on stage by Shvorne Marks (Three Little Birds, Get Millie Black) as Lauren Grant Kilburn (2:22 A Ghost Story) as Ben. Tickets from £15.
🎨Work in Progress. 13/09, 10am-4pm; 14/09, 10am-4pm. Great Bear Gallery. From half-completed paintings to forgotten sketches and unresolved ideas, the Work in Progress exhibition puts the spotlight on the creative process. Check it out at this fab Tunstall-based tattoo studio. Admission free.
🏳️🌈 Sharing and Celebrating LGBTQ+ Lives. 10/09, 6pm-8pm, the Dudson Centre. This is a new heritage and photography project from arts organisation GRAIN Projects which will deliver a series of free workshops from September to December, where locals can share their memories and photo albums on this topic. More workshops are planned for next year, while later in the year, it will be organising an exhibition and launching a publication. Admission free.
🍁Artisan Autumn Market. 13/09 & 14/09, 10am-4pm, Middleport Pottery. And somehow, it’s nearly Autumn – eek! Cheer yourself up that summer’s over by browsing locally-produced gifts, handmade homewares, home-baked treats and original art at this popular local fare. Admission free.
🚶♀️Steps to Better Mental Health. 05/09, 10am-11.30am, Biddulph Grange. Join non-profit Walk Talk Action for a stroll around Biddulph Grange, where you can meet new friends and offload in the process. If you can’t make the date, there are walks at Park Hall (03/10), Shugborough (07/11) and Ford Green Hall (05/12).
