🎸 Macbeth at Trentham. 24/08, 7pm-9pm; 25/08 4pm-6pm (including 15-minute interval). Historical drama unfolds at the Trentham Estate as The Dukes Theatre Company present a vibrant reimagining of Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy. Renowned for their daring and creative approach, the company infuses a modern twist into the gripping story of ambition, murder, and madness. Don’t forget to bring a picnic and a camping chair! Tickets £20 adult; £18.50 16 and under; 6 and over, £5.
⚓️ All Aboard the Dane. 09/08; depart 10.45 from Middleport Pottery, return 4-5 hours later. Step aboard a working open-top narrowboat, Dane, for a cruise along the Trent & Mersey Canal through the historic Harecastle Tunnel. If you’re not familiar, be aware the Harecastle Tunnel is dark, enclosed, and can be noisy, and you’ll be going through it for 45 minutes there and back. Tickets £32.50.
🚶♂️Summer Evening Social Walk. 20/08, 6pm, Hem Heath Woods. Join the Closer to Home Walking Network for a free Summer Evening Social Walk, an hour-long evening stroll through the beautiful Hem Heath Woods Nature Reserve followed by free refreshments at nearby High Tales Restaurant. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome on the walk but not allowed at High Tales. No booking required, but to join them at High Tales, send an email to reserve a place. Admission free.
🎤 Open Mic Night in Newcastle. 03/08, 6pm-8.30pm, the Lounge @ Sneyd Arms. Show off your talents or go watch others performing at the Sunday Sessions – Open Mic Night. All performers of all genres are welcome, including musicians and poets. Admission free.
🧙 Catch The Wizard of Oz. 16/08, 2.30pm, Bolton Gate Farm. Fasten up your ruby slippers for a saunter down the yellow brick road with Paperback Theatre's contemporary adaptation of The Wizard of Oz. Whether it's brains, heart, or courage you want, this action-packed adventure has got you covered. Tickets pay what you can: £20 supporter, £15 standard, £10 subsidised.
🛝 Bouncingly Good Fun. 30/07; 10am-1.30pm kids session; 11.45am-1.15pm kids session; 1.30pm-3pm kids & adults session, Biddulph Valley Leisure Centre. Get the kids jumpin’ at Big Bounce Events’ 90-minute sessions, which will feature bouncy castles, Duck & Jump Sweeper, free fall jump, obstacle courses, demolition ball, Helter Skelter, bungee run, and slides. Don’t miss the Summer in Nashville country music festival, where Country Bound, one of the most popular UK country bands, are headlining. You can also set your feet tapping to Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton and Shania Twain tribute acts, plus there’s line dancing, rodeo bull rides, and American BBQ. Tickets from £19.50.
