🇬🇧 Celebrating VE Day. various dates and times. More than 326,000 British servicemen and women died during World War II. To pay tribute to the lives lost and this milestone 80th anniversary of VE Day, there will be a civic service at Stoke Minster at 7pm. A beacon is being lit at Park Hall Country Park on 08/05 at 9.30pm. As we’ve already mentioned, there’s a VE Day Ball on 10/05 at Fenton Town Hall, while activities at Staffordshire History Centre include World War II object handling (08/05).
🤭 Catch Josh Pugh. 17/05, 7pm, Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. Renowned for his live, and highly viral, short videos (we love playing with the kids whilst trying not to move),Josh will be in Stoke to perform his Ha Ha Yeah Sound (Work in Progress) show as part of the city’s comedy festival. Catch him while you can as he’s already appeared on Live At The Appollo and is tipped for the big time. Tickets £18.
🤵♂️ Dougie Mac Fundraiser. 22/05 from 6.45pm, World of Wedgwood. So many of us from Stoke will a story to share about the marvellous Dougie Mac. This black tie fundraiser features a very swish three-course meal curated and prepared by Hospitality and Catering students from Stoke-on-Trent College, live entertainment from Loren Searcy, a silent auction and other fundraising activities. Tickets £100.
🎪 Don’t Miss Dr Melford’s Travelling Show. 15/06, 11am-3pm, Gladstone Pottery Museum. At this Victorian-inspired show, you can meet Simpkin, the world’s strongest man, Dr Clench, who makes all his own medicines, a wild west show and a a magic lantern puppet show that takes the audience on a quest round the British Empire. Normal museum admission of £8.50 (adults) and £5.95 (children) applies.
🪩 Let’s Dance: Stoke 100 Street Party. 06/06, 2pm-11pm, Piccadilly. Featuring special guests Norman Jay, Colin Curtis and Pete Bromley behind the decks, this event promises to get everyone up and dancing for the centenary. While free, it’s ticketed and there aren’t many left, so snap ‘em up here. Last admission 8pm.
🎸 It’s Oasisish! 31/05, 7pm, Eleven. If you haven’t managed to snap up tickets for this Summer’s much-anticipated Oasis reunion of the Gallagher Brothers (there are limited tickets still available if you’re willing to pay more than £300 apiece), there’s always tribute act Oasish. We’re Definitely Maybe going. Tickets £20.
📚 Tom Gates Epic Stage Show. 20/07, 12.30pm & 3.30pm, Regent Theatre. Based on the bestselling books by Liz Pichon, Tom Gates EPIC Stage Show brings alive the illustrations and songs that make Tom Gates popular around the world. Expect catchy tunes and hilarious performances rolled into one live show. Tickets from £16.50.
⛳️ Big Stars set to Tee off at JCB. 25-27/07, 7.30pm, JCB Golf & Country Club, Rocester. The world’s only global golf league featuring 13 teams and a 14-tournament schedule, LIV Golf will be swinging by JCB for the UK leg of the competition before the event concludes late August in Michigan. The event will welcome the league’s 54 international players, including British stars like Hatton, Majesticks GC captains Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, Paul Casey (Crushers GC), Richard Bland (Cleeks GC), and Sam Horsfield (Majesticks GC) versus the world’s best.
