Ceramic Showcase. 21/11-22/11, 9am-5pm, Stoke Town Hall. One of the highlight events of the Stoke-on-Trent 100: Heritage Festival, the Legacy and Continuity Ceramic Symposium celebrates our ceramics and World Craft City status, with talks on subjects including Staffordshire Ceramics in Portuguese Homes and Understanding the Transversal Allure of Postcolonial British Ceramics. 🏮 Make A Lantern, Join the Parade lantern workshops 28/10-29/11 at various times and location; 6/12, collect lanterns at 4.30pm, parade leaves at 5pm from Keele in Town. Get creative at free lantern-making workshops in Newcastle over October half term and on Saturdays in November ahead of the community parade, Feasts of Welcome 2025, to light up the Newcastle. Admission free.
👾 All for Esports. 08/11-09/11, 9am onwards, University of Staffordshire. Bringing together players from across Europe, the European Halo Championship esports tournament will feature multiple livestreams, with teams battling to be crowned the 2025 European Halo Champion. Tickets from £22.38.
💪 Women for the Miners. 08/11, 7.30pm, Stoke Film Theatre. Check out this film screening of the Iron Ladies documentary about the women who sustained the miners’ strike. The documentary is followed by a Q&A with film contributor Rose Hunter and fellow North Staffs activists Sue Moffat and Ryan Proctor. Tickets from £9.16, £8.09 concessions, under 26’s £5.39. 🦖 The Dinosaur That Pooped A Rock Show. 23/11, 12.30pm & 3.30pm, Regent Theatre. With Danny and Dino’s favourite rock band set to play their last ever concert, they go on a quest to snap up the last two tickets. But with a villainous band manager lurking, nothing goes according to plan… Tickets from £17.
🏺 Working with Recycled Clay at Wedgwood. 15/11, 11am-12.30pm & 2pm-3.30pm, World of Wedgwood. Explore the possibilities of working with recycled clay at Upstart at V&A Wedgwood Collection: Clay Careers Workshop. You’ll learn the process of recycling clay before rolling, cutting and decorating your own tile inspired by designs in the V&A Wedgwood Collection. The finished pieces will be displayed in the galleries for a temporary exhibition. Admission free.
🌳 Free Trees For You and Your Community. various times, dates and locations. Staffordshire residents are being invited to a free tree giveaway events to enrich their gardens and community spaces this autumn and winter. A mix of oak, hawthorn, rowan, hazel, silver birch, crab apple and whitebeam will be available to pick up across the county; head to Apedale Country Park on 21/11 from 10am to 2pm to get yours. You can also grab a tree or two from Westport Lake on 18/02 at the same time. There’s a full list of locations across the county here.
