🎉 Sensasian Sensation! various dates, times and locations. South Asian arts and culture festival Sensasian returns this summer with its biggest programme yet, expanding across four venues and running until February 2027. Organised by Appetite with partners including the New Vic Theatre, The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery and Arts Keele, the festival will feature film, music, dance, storytelling and creative activities. Highlights include a free screening of acclaimed Pakistani film Joyland on 03/07, a dedicated Sensasian zone at The Big Feast on 29/08 a performance by the Inner Vision Quintet in November, and a celebration of Kathak dance from Pagrav Dance Company next February.
🏺Make a Bottle Oven. 18/07, 10am-12pm & 1pm-3pm, Gladstone Pottery Museum. What could be more Stoke than creating your own ceramic bottle kiln? Everyone is welcome to this relaxed, beginner-friendly bottle oven diffuser workshop; pieces will be ready to pick up six to eight weeks later. Admission £35 (includes tea, coffee, cake and free admission to the museum).
🎭 Exploring Friendship, Gal Style. 05/07-06/07, 4pm & 7pm, Drop City Books. Young girls tackle adults’ friendship dilemmas through dance, song, debate and brutally honest wisdom at the Friendship Lab. Tickets £15; £5 concessions.
🎸See the Inspiral Carpets. 29/06, 8pm, the Sugarmill. There are still tickets left for Madchester legends the Inspiral Carpets, who Noel Gallagher once famously roadied for. They’re supported by Swansea band Trampolene. Tickets £30.
😀 Laughs with Paul Smith. 29/07 & 11/11, 7.30pm, the Regent. Following sold-out runs and viral success across the globe, Paul Smith is hitting the road again with his new tour, Happy, where he takes his trademark razor-sharp observations, and laugh-out-loud true stories to a new hilarious level. Tickets from £51.66.
🛳️ Guided Cruises Across Trentham Lake. 24/07-14/08, 11am-12pm. Set sail across Trentham’s Capability Brown lake and check out one of the largest heron and cormorant nesting and roosting sites from the water plus signs of the resident beavers from all-electric catamaran, Miss Elizabeth. Tickets £7 per person, £5.60 for platinum and gold members; under 3’s free.
