🎶 It’s Almost Prom Time! 13/06, 7.30pm-10pm, King’s Hall. Violins out! The City of Stoke-on-Trent Symphony Orchestra (CSSO) is celebrating the centenary with the Stoke 100 Celebration Prom, featuring a world premiere of a piece by local composer Eden Longson. With pieces from Strauss, Ravel and Elgar, parts of the programme will be performed by renowned baritone soloist Jordan Harding. Tickets £22-£29 (free tickets for under 18’s and student discount available).

🧑🎤 Music at the Mill. 28/06, noon-dusk, Cheddleton Flint Mill. Head to Ched for Flint Garretaw, where local acts The Longshore Dirders, Heidi Browne and The Centaurs are all playing. There’s also a bar and BBQ, kids entertainment, The Ice Cream Lady and best of all, The Oatcake Boat. Tickets £12.50 adults, £7.50 children.
🧌 Catch Shrek the Musical. 24-28/06, Tue-Sat 7.30pm; Sat 2.30pm, Regent Theatre. Follow lovable ogre Shrek as he embarks on a quest to rescue feisty Princess Fiona with the help of his loyal chatty companion, Donkey. Tickets from £16.23.
🐳 Celebrate World Ocean Day at Trentham. 08/06, 11am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1pm; 2pm & 2.30pm, Trentham Shopping Village. An 18-metre-long whale is making its way to Trentham’s shores and you’re invited to step inside its belly to watch the captivating Plastic Ocean show. The experience explores the impact of plastic on our environment in a way that’s thought-provoking and fun for all. Admission free.

Local explorer Levison Wood, Port Vale chair Carol Shanahan and co-founder of 1882 Ceramics Emily Johnson were among the speakers at last week’s TEdX Talks at the University of Staffordshire.
