🥨 Heritage Open Days are Here. various dates, times & locations throughout September. Some of the events you can sign up for include 15 Bottle Ovens Built in the City, A Walking Tour of Arnold Bennett’s Burslem, Charles Barry and his Grand Designs for Trentham, and Chatterley Whitfield and Colliery Tours. We also like the sound of The Architecture of The Potteries Canals, and the Open Doors at traditional ceramic tile manufactory Winkhill Mill. Admission free.
🎨 Championing Collage. 19/09, University of Staffordshire. Contemporary Collage LIVE! is the magazine’s day-long celebration of collage. With nine guest speakers, you can expect panel discussions, exhibitions and exclusive access to two exclusive collage workshops on 20/09 limited to just 16 places per session. Every attendee receives a free tote bag packed with hand-picked collage goodies worth over £50. Tickets £95 before 31/08, £110 after.
🪕 Don’t Miss Fenton Folk Day. 20/09, 11am-11.30pm, Fenton Town Hall. Featuring local and nationally acclaimed folk acts including Jez Lowe and The Bad Pennies, The Lost Notes and the Potteries’ own Paul Walker and Karen Pfeiffer. There’s a series of free events in and around the town hall such as workshops for children, families and the wider community, including singing, songwriting, playing music, storytelling, poetry, and dancing. The evening concert will be followed by a barn dance. Tickets £45.
🥁 Catch a Fine Beatles Tribute. 27/09, 7.30pm, Mitchell Arts Centre. Having performed at International Beatle Week for the last four years running, Beatles fans won’t want to miss the Beatles Complete, direct from their Cavern Club residency, a fine tribute to the Fab Four. Tickets £25.
🎭 How to Disappear Completely. 10/09-13/09, 7.30pm, Crown Wharf Theatre. Ruthless, funny and painfully sad, Fin Kennedy’s gripping psychological thriller, How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found is being bought to the stage by the very talented local theatre group, Stone Revellers. Contains strong language and mature themes. Tickets £16 (£14 concessions).
👻 It’s Scarefest. 27/09-02/11, Alton Towers. It’s almost time for Towers to turn spooky as the park remains open ‘til late so you can enjoy your favourite rides in the dark. For young visitors, there are live shows and the park’s famous freaky five to meet, while older families will enjoy the scare zone and terrifying scare mazes. Theme park tickets available from £34 per person when booked five days prior to visit.
🎸 Rockin’ Out, Classical Style. 26/10, 7.30pm, Regent Theatre. Performing the music of iconic bands including Metallica, AC/DC and the Rolling Stones against a backdrop of flickering candlelight settings, this band of 14 classical musicians will unite classical music with metal and rock. Tickets from £60.
