🎉 Free Stokie Fun. 25/07, 11am-4pm, YMCA North Staffordshire. Enjoy arts and crafts, watch demonstrations in the new youth hub, then take part in sporting challenges and quizzes at the One Big Stokie Day. There’s also a Stoke-on-Trent Duck hunt, craft stalls to browse, free face painting for the kids and the chance to cheer on cyclists taking part in the 100-mile challenge. Admission free.
🏃♂️ Join JCB’s Charity Roadrace. 10/07, JCB Rocester. JCB is commemorating a milestone year in 2025, as it turns 80 in October. Part of the celebrations include a fun run to raise cash for its £2 million NSPCC Appeal. Join more than 130 competitors who have already signed up for the JCB Lakeside 5 mile race and two-mile fun run. There’s a special prize on offer for the best digger-themed fancy dress. 🌳 Celebrate National Meadows Day. 05/07, 10am-4pm, the Fenns Wildflower Meadow & Stockton Brook Waterworks. If you’re an arty type who loves a bit of mindfulness, then join National Meadows Day, where you can sketch, paint and examine wild flowers, habitats and wildlife. As an added bonus, Milton Ukulele Group will perform at 1pm. Admission free, ticket prices vary for workshops.
🎵 Get Down to Northern Soul and Motown. 09/08, 12pm-5pm, Middleport Pottery. Bring your best soul style - we’re thinking sharp suits and stylish dresses – for DJ Sidwayne, who will be behind the decks for a spot of daytime grooving. Don’t worry, there’s a big dance floor where you can get your groove on, and the coffee shop’s open when you’re ready for a breather. Tickets £4.
🎖️ A Salute to the Armed Forces. 28/06. Staffs residents are being invited to show their support for the armed forces as the county raises the flag for Armed Forces Day celebrations this Saturday. Leading the nation’s commemorations is the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire who will be marking the event with a remembrance service and family activities across two days.
⛪️ Join a Heritage Roadshow. 28/06; Burslem School of Art, Burslem, Oliver’s Mill, Cobridge, 10am-12pm (workshop) 12pm-1.20pm (heritage walk); 12/07 Fenton Town Hall, 10am-12pm (workshop), 12-1.30pm (heritage walk) 19/07, Westport Lake Cafe, Canal and River Trust sites 10am-12pm (workshop) 12-1.30pm (heritage walk). With Stoke poised to receive cash from the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Heritage Places initiative, roadshows will take place to explore what people value. Take part in mapping local heritage assets, walks and talks by the Potteries Heritage Society plus activities for the fam. Admission free.
👩🦱 All-Female Comedy Night 26/07, 7.30pm, New Vic. You can catch some top comics at the Ladies of Laughter night, which features Noreen Khan (BBC AN, BBC 1, BBC Radio 5 Live), Annette Fagon (BBC Local Radio & BBC Radio 1Xtra), Tej Dhutia (BBC AN) and Shazia Mirza (BBC, ITV, CH4). Tickets £20.
