🎻 Quartet of Concerts Confirmed for Centenary. Various dates and times. The first four events have been announced as part of a year-long feast of arts, culture and fun to mark Stoke-on-Trent’s Centenary in 2025. Don’t miss The Rise of the Fab Four (25/01, 7.30pm, King’s Hall, tickets £28), The City Music Service Stoke-on-Trent 100 Big Sing and Big Play (Big Sing 4 & 10/06, Big Play 11/06, morning and afternoon sessions, email for tickets or to take part), North Staffs Symphony Orchestra Centenary Concert (28/06, King’s Hall, tickets £15) and Soul-on-Trent (05/04, tickets £15, early bird £12 if purchase before 31/12).
🎭 Get the Kids Doing Panto. 03/01, 7.30pm, Mitchell Arts Centre. If the kids have been inspired by the performances of Jonny Wilkes and co in Dick Whittington at the Regent Theatre (and frankly, who can blame them) why not sign them up for a Panto Workshop before they go back to school to master dance, dialogue and more?Tickets £5 per child, kids aged 6+ only, registration from 11.30am.
🎻 A Classical New Year’s Concert. 03/01, 7.30pm. Victoria Hall. With its classical music concerts and waltzes in the square, there’s nowhere quite like Vienna to ring in the New Year. If you can’t make it to Austria, get a ticket for SOT Classics – Halle: New Year in Vienna, with music from Strauss, Gershwin and Lehar. Eduardo Strausser is conducting and Alexandra Lowe is the soloist. Tickets from £25.03
🎸 Rock with L1nkn P4rk. 09/01, 7pm, The Underground. Go see one of the best Linkin Park tribute brands around as they run through rock classics including In the End, Papercut and One Step Closer. Tickets £15 advance, £20 on the door.
🔮 Prosecco and Psychic Night. 20/01, 7pm. The Quarter @ Potbank. Want to know what 2025 has in store for you? Join Chris Shearer for a night of mediumship with some bubbles on the side. A one to one is an additional cost of £25 for 25 minutes and can be organised on the night. Tickets £20, includes welcome drink on arrival.
🎱 Snooker Classic Revisited. 22/01, 7.30pm, Victoria Hall. ‘Black Ball - Clash of the Titans’ sees snooker greats Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor chalk up their cues and take to the table to relive their iconic final in 1985, in which Taylor won his first and only World Championship against Davis, who won it six times. Commentary by John Virgo, and there’s a Q+A at the end with these two legends. Tickets from £25.
🙍♂️ Plastic Surgery Pioneer Honoured. 11.30am, 23/01, Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. John Grocott led the first plastic surgery unit outside London at the North Staffs Royal Infirmary and treated thousands of seriously injured servicemen throughout WWII. The official launch of the display dedicated to his life’s work in the Spitfire Museum will take place on his birthday. More info on a Fenton-born icon here.
