🕺 Trentham Concerts Galore! Various dates and times, Trentham Estate. The Trentham Summer concert season is poised to go full swing from this weekend and there are still tickets left for A Tribute to Queen (04/07); Club Classics (05/07); A Night of Funk & Soul (11/07); Absolute 80’s (12/07); Monsters of Rock Live (18/07); The Millennial Soundtrack (19/07); A Tribute to Ed and Taylor and The Modern Country Music Show (26/07).
🎉 Hartshill Community Festival. 02/08-03/08, 10am-6pm, The Wade Centre and Noahs Bar and Restaurant. So, why go? Well, there’s a bouncy castle, live music, artisan market, face painting, a car show and the chance to meet owls, reptiles and farm animals. Warwick’s Fun Fairs will also be there for an additional cost if you fancy the waltzers. £5 for a family, £3 per person.
🏊♀️ Dougie Mac Big Swim Weekend. Throughout July and 26 & 27/07. How’s your front crawl? Participants of all abilities are invited to collectively swim 52km in celebration of 52 years of Dougie Mac’s care. Choose your distance: 400m (16 lengths); 800m (32 lengths); 1,500m (60 lengths); 2,500m (100 lengths) or 5,000m (200 lengths). Swim at a pool of your choice, at your own pace, anytime during July with the Anytime Swim Option or do it the weekend of 26 & 27/07 at local partner venues with the Big Swim Weekend Option. Registration £15.
🎭 Shakespeare Comes to Weston …. 03/08, 2.30pm, Bolton Gate Farm. It’s the Bard, but not as you know him. Four Forty Theatre will put on a raucous retelling of Much Ado About Nothing and Macbeth, with both performed in one night by only four actors in around 40 minutes each. Pay what you can (£20 supporter, £15 standard, £10 subsidised).
🥳 Celebrating all Things South Asian. 26/07, 12pm-5pm. New Vic. Embrace South Asian culture with the Sensasian Family Fun Day. Created in collaboration with local South Asian communities, you can expect performances, dance workshops, music, film and Henna painting. One of the event highlights will be a performance by Baluji Shrivastav OBE, (2.15-2.45pm), one of the world’s leading sitar players who’s played with Coldplay and Stevie Wonder. Admission free.
🎯 A Night at the Darts. 22/08; Kings Hall. Love your arrows? You can catch Stephen Bunting, Raymond Van Barneveld, Simon Whitlock, Adrian Lewis and Ryan Meikle next month facing off against one another. There’s also an auction featuring signed memorabilia and the chance to play a leg of darts against one of these pros. Upgrade to platinum to meet the players. Tickets from £30.
😄 Puppet Show! 14/08, 12pm-3pm, Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. Here’s a date for the kids’ summer diary - a free puppet show, with stages built onto the back of electric tricycles and some great stories. In The Story of the Scary Noise, a doting daddy finds the unexpected source of a mysterious sound, while in The Magic Samovar, a Persian tea urn reveals a puzzle of secrets. Maisy and the Corn, meanwhile, tells the story of a gardener and her hungry chicken. Admission free.
