🎨 A Tribute to Arthur Berry. Various dates and times. Often referred to as “the Lowry of the Potteries”, The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded £150,000 to creative organisations to commemorate the artist, poet and playwright from Smallthorne in his centenary year. ArthurBerry100 kicks off with an art exhibition, Berry RAW, with Bare Wall Gallery, which will include never-before seen paintings and sketches. Check this website for more events throughout the year, including the world premiere of the last play he wrote, Whatever Happened to Phoebe Salt. Admission free to exhibitions.
🎸 Catch a Guns N’ Roses Tribute. 31/01, 7pm, Eleven. Start off the new year with some classic 80s rock (Paradise City!) with The Guns N’ Roses Experience. The guitarist is officially supported by Marshall Amps, just like Slash. Tickets £13.22.
🏃♂️ It’s Park Run Time! Every Saturday, 9am. Ready to run off the Christmas excess and get fit for 2025? Just a reminder you can join a Parkrun at Hanley Park, Trentham Gardens, Cannock Chase or the Isabel Trial in Stafford for free each week! 🚺 Menopause Meets. 29/01, 5.30pm-7.30pm, Saint Wulstan’s Community Centre. Whether you’re wondering about perimenopause or considering HRT, join the Women's Health Fair - Understanding Menopause to navigate this stage of life with confidence. Organised by Newcastle Central Primary Care Network, some free NHS health checks will also be available, including breast screening. Admission free.
💃 Dancing the Night Away. 01-12/02, 7.30pm. Regent Theatre. 025 Dance: Iconic! will see 55 dance companies from all over Staffordshire, Cheshire and the North West take over the Regent to perform this year’s theme, Iconic!, which features classic tracks from some of music’s biggest names. Tickets from £16.50.
😂 Comedy Night with Geoff Norcott. 25/01 8pm (doors 7pm), Foxlowe Arts Centre. Described by one broadsheet as ‘one of our most refreshingly funny comedians’ (check out a clip from his recent Basic Bloke tour here and make your own mind up), the Londoner who received an Operational Service Medal for five frontline tours entertaining troops in Afghanistan is doing one night in Leek. Tickets from £17.50.
✡️ Remembering the Holocaust. 27/01, 7.30pm, New Vic. New Vic Borderlines is staging a new play, Voices From, to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina. From the Holocaust to the Srebrenica genocide and current conflicts, Voices From amplifies the voices of young lives often unheard. Tickets £15, concessions £10.
🎹 Attend an Interactive Music Show. 16-26/01, B arts. Hartshill’s creative crew are inviting children, families and neurodivergent adults to The Lost Note, an immersive show where you’ll solve musical puzzles and dive headfirst into new worlds in a friendly environment. Tickets £12 adults, £7.20 children and £7.20 concessions.
