🧑🎤 It’s Carnival Time! 13/07, 11am-7pm, Hanley Park. If you’re feeling a bit flat after the People’s Parade, don’t fret, there’s more to come. Bringing the vibes of the Caribbean, you can expect to catch some talented performers, authentic fare on market stalls and a family-friendly vibe at the Six Towns Carnival, which will be celebrating the centenary in style next month. Yay! Admission free.
🐀 Ragged Victorians 05/07, 11am-4pm, Gladstone Pottery Museum. Meet a char woman and coin nipper, discover what a pure collector was and see if the rat catcher catches any rats as the Victorians return to wander round the museum next month. You’ll love the authentic costume and props, and you can ask them questions as you make your way round. Normal museum admission fees apply.
🦫 Dusk Beaver Safari at Trentham. 01/07-26/08; 7pm-9.30pm (Jul & Aug); 6pm-8.30pm (September). Learn about Trentham’s restoration and biodiversity from a guide who will help you develop your observation skills and knowledge about UK wildlife while sharing the stories behind Trentham’s rewilding. Tickets £39.50 for adults and children over 8 years. Binocular hire and wildlife spotter sheet included. Hot drinks and light refreshments provided. Meet at visitor centre.
🎸It’s Electric Six! 29/06, 7pm, The Sugarmill. Detroit legends Electric Six, best known for their track Danger! High Voltage, will be in town as part of their Summer 2025 tour for what promises to be a very groovy night. Tickets £20.
🤵🏾♀️ Sister Act at the MAC. 19/07, 2.30pm, Mitchell Arts Centre. Senior students at Stagecoach Newcastle are staging musical comedy Sister Act Jnr, which sees disco diva Deloris Van Carter placed in protective custody at a convent, where she revitalises the struggling choir. Tickets £16.50 adults, £13.50 children
🪩 Disco Bliss Daytime Party. 12/07; entry from 1pm, last entry 3pm, music 2pm-6pm, King’s Hall. Love to boogie but can’t be bothered with the late nights? Get your groove on to Abba, Bee Gees, Donna Summer, The Jacksons, Madonna and more at the Disco Bliss Daytime Party. Seating and tables available in the main room on a first come, first served basis – but it’s all about the dance, really. Tickets from £16.96.
👦 Tom Gates on Stage. 20/07, 12.30pm & 3.30pm, Regent Theatre. Based on the bestselling books by Liz Pichon, and brand new for 2025, Tom Gates’ Epic Stage Show will bring to life the illustrations and songs that make these cartoon-style books so popular around the world. Tickets from £16.50.
💃 Yum – The Big Feast is Set to Return! 22-23/08, Hanley city centre. The countdown is on for the tastiest event of the summer, a free, large-scale street arts festival featuring circus, outdoor theatre, music, dance, and interactive installations across multiple city centre locations. Look out for a whole bunch of cool creative acts, from aerial performances to audio-described shows.
