🥨 Celebrating Stoke (again). 05/06, various locations. The first Stoke-on-Trent Day, held last year during the city’s Centenary celebrations, commemorated 100 years of city status and is now set to become an annual celebration of the Stoke’s culture and communities. Following the success of last year’s Big Centenary Tea Party, Stokies are once again being encouraged to come together to celebrate Stoke-on-Trent. Events include a refreshed Art on Your Doorstep exhibition featuring local artist Charles William Brown; there’s more here.

🇯🇲 Six Towns Afro-Caribbean Carnival Returns. 12/07, 11am-7pm, Hanley Park. There’s lots going on here, including a carnival parade, live performances plus a funfair and kids area, food stalls showcasing authentic Caribbean flavours and even a chill zone where you can soak it all in. Admission free.
⚽️ Join Middleport’s World Cup Trail. 26/05-19/07, 1pm-3pm. It’s less than three weeks ‘til the world cup kicks off on 11/06 (first match is Mexico vs South Africa at 8pm) so embrace the ensuing cup fever by finding flags and facts about all the 48 participating teams at Middleport. All participants get entered into a prize draw to win a sports-themed goody bag. Admission £3 per person.
⚓️ Celebrating Our Canals. 30/05 & 31/05, 11am-5pm, Etruria Industrial Museum. With a theme of ‘World of Gardens’ to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Stoke Garden Festival, you can admire historic narrowboats, check out craft demos and stalls, and dig into street food here. Admission free.
💘 Romeo & Juliet Hits Trentham. 30/08, 6pm; & 31/08, 4pm. The Duke’s Theatre Company presents a bold reimagining of the iconic tragedy directed by Joseph Pitcher, whose credits include Macbeth at the Salomons Theatre in Tunbridge Wells; gates open 45 minutes before the show. Tickets from £18.43.
