🚶♀️Admire the Kilns Close up. 01/02, 9.30am-4pm, meet at Cherished Chimneys. Get up close to some Stoke heritage by walking the remaining 47 bottle kilns of our fair city. This day-long stroll is approximately 12 miles, so a moderate level of fitness is required and waterproof clothing is recommended. Admission free.
👨👩👦 Info Sessions on Fostering. Various dates and locations. Staffs County Council is currently looking to find local families to foster vulnerable children. Find out more at the following info sessions: Hednesford Wetherspoons (23/01, 10am-12pm); Costa Coffee Queen’s Retail Park Stafford (24/01, 10am-12.30pm); Northfield Centre, Stafford (27/01, 10am-12pm) and Burton Family Hub (30/01, 10am-12.30pm). 🎸 Wet Wet Wet Return. 31/01, Victoria Hall. Go see the 80s legends performing hits including Sweet Little Mystery, Angel Eyes and Goodnight Girl on the first of two sets of tour dates in 2025. They’ll be fronted by former Liberty X singer Kevin Simm rather than Marti Pellow, who’s been singer since 2018. Special guest Heather Small, lead singer from M People, is opening for them. Tickets from £44.60.
🍿 Catch The Goonies. 17/01, 7pm, Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. Stoke Cult Film Club will be showing this Spielberg classic, which features two brothers in search of some treasure who are trying to shake off some bad guys also looking to pocket the spoils. Refreshments from 6pm, Tickets £5, option to pay on the door.
🗳️ Newcastle By-Election Time. 23/01. If you live in Newcastle, you can vote for one of four candidates standing in a by-election for a seat on Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council: Sheelagh Eileen Casey-Hulme (Labour); Nigel Jones (Lib Dem); Elliott Albert Lancaster (Conservative) and Neill Antony Walker (Reform UK).
🕺Get Grooving to Motown. 17/01 8pm (doors 7pm), Weston Coyney Private Club. Up for a dance? DJ’s Sidwayne, Mick Cotton and Steve Ball will be spinning classic Northern Soul & Motown 45s at this Motown & Soul Night. Admission free.
🧪 Amazing Science Show. 19/02, 4.30pm, Regent Theatre. Direct from the West End, you can expect 20 feet tall nitrogen clouds and exploding oxygen and hydrogen balloons from the Ministry of Science LIVE - Science Saved The World, which examines how science shapes the world we live in. Tickets from £15.
🐍 Celebrate The Year of the Snake! 02/02, 11am-5pm. Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. Welcome in the Lunar New Year of the Snake at the museum with traditional music and dance including Dragon and Lion dance performances. Other activities include Chinese craft workshops, firecrackers and acrobatics. Admission free.
