what is the remit of reform trust? If it was appointed in December 2023 the aims and objectives should cover the whole city not one or two sites. I was in Burslem on sunday, its in maked decline. Since even the leopard has been burnt out for over two and a half years, what is the overall plan? Trevor Fisher

This is what I emailed to the Red Haired Stokie ……. Hi, you asked for comments, hopefully to be passed on……. The article says the acoustics are superb, and I don’t doubt that. What concerns me is that another ‘entertainment’ arena gets added to the Regent Theatre, the Victoria Hall, the Mitchell, the Rep, the New Vic Theatre etc etc and before you know it, due to cost of living crisis, dwindling attendances etc one of them shuts? In terms of a museum there is already one across the road plus Gladstone, Spode etc. I wonder if one of our ….ahem ….. philanthropists could be approached and suggest a negligible investment which would then transform it into either ‘Caudwell’s City Cathedral’ or the ‘Coates City Cathedral’ with different segments covering the family’s history, the city’s history and units of expressive arts whereby people could literally turn up and talk, recite poetry, act, sing, dance ….. it gets recorded on a robotic camera which then is flashed across screens for customers in the coffee shop to watch. Limited opening hours, using latest technology in association with Staffs uni, Keele uni, Stoke & Newcastle 6th form colleges media students ….. I saw something similar in the millennium dome London when they did a huge celebration of BritPop, (and Britmedia I think) yes there were artefacts to look at and mini film clips to watch but the audience were part of it by singing, doing mock news stories and so on. Shy people can look on and extroverts can get ‘stuck in’ - so all personality-types are catered for. (In other words one part of the audience would be entertained by the other, a sort of constant open mic space ….. something a bit different?)
