• 🧑‍⚕️🚍 A Free Health Check Awaits. From 09/03-15/04, 9am-4pm, various locations. The Cancer Awareness Bus Tour is on a mission to help residents learn about cancer and spot symptoms early. Swing by to speak to find out if you’re eligible for NHS cancer screening. At most locations, you can also get a free health check; all locations are drop-in, with no booking required. The first stop is Cheadle (09/03), with stop-offs in Hanley (10/03), Bentilee (11/03), Tunstall (12/03), Newcastle (13/03) and Stone (14/03) before it heads south.

Get yourself checked out on the cancer awareness bus, which is touring Staffordshire this March and April.

• 📽️ Build it Cinema. 18/02, 1pm-3pm; Mitchell Arts Centre. Sign up the kids for a cinema screening with a twist: each child gets to build a figure to take home at this relaxed cinema screening of Wild Robot, an animated science fiction film by DreamWorks. Tickets £4 per child, one adult free per child.

• ⛪️ Some Good Stuff Coming to Stoke Minster. Various dates. It kicks off this Friday (06/02) with a fiery Flamenco performance from Rebeca Ortega and Ramon Ruiz. Next, Fever - String Quartet will perform Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and a tribute to the Beatles (21/02); they will also play Four Seasons and Hans Zimmer’s Best Works (27/03). Then it’s Red Events Orchestra playing the music of the Lord of the Rings and a tribute to Howard Shore (28/03), and the Illuminated Orchestra with a tribute to Hans Zimmer and film favourites (09/04).

There are plenty of great concerts coming to Stoke Minster, starting this Friday (06/02) with some flamenco dancing

🏃‍♂️ Run the Mow Cop Killer Mile. 07/05, 6pm. Featuring a brutal ascent of 570 feet, with sections reaching a 25% gradient, this challenging road race is a rite of passage for many local runners. There are multiple race categories, including junior races, club runners and fun runners, so entrants can take on the hill at their own pace. Entry free from £6 for children, £12 standard; full registration and pricing here.

• 🎭 Psst! Calling All Budding Performers. 27/02, 10am-12pm; 35 North Street, Newcastle. Fancy a career in the arts, or know someone who might? Young people considering a career in theatre, film, music, and more are invited to check out the new facilities at Martec Training, meet the course tutor, and hear about its City & Guilds-approved course at its Performing Arts Trial Day. Admission free.
  

• 🎵 Handel and Mozart, Period Style. 14/03, 7.30pm, Keele University Chapel. Keele Bach Choir will be performing Handel’s Messiah and Mozart's Coronation Mass with the 18th Century Sinfonia orchestra playing period instruments, so you can hear how it would have sounded when heard for the very first time. Tickets £16 (pre-booked), £18 (on the door); students £5, under 17s go free.
