🎢 All the Fun of the Fair. 13/02-23/02, 5pm-9pm opening night, 12pm-9pm after. Lichfield Street, Hanley. If you love waltzers, dodgems and things that spin round and turn you upside down, then you’ll be chuffed to know Funderworld has arrived in Hanley just in time for half-term. Rides include new attraction Red Devil, Airmaxx, 360 Waltzer, Sizzler and Crazy Cage (we’ve been on this before and it’s ace). There’s plenty for little ‘uns too, including Dodgems, Fun House, Runaway Train Roller Coaster, Crazy Mouse Roller Coaster, Tea Cups and Mini Jets. Want more info and pics? 💃 Learn to Tap Dance. 28/02, 6pm, Regent Theatre. It’s never too late to learn a new skill. Dancers, get yourself along to this two-hour long Adult Beginner’s Tap Workshop led by Rebecca Jayne, who’s part of Liverpool’s Sole Rebel Performance Company. You don’t need tap shoes, just comfy footwear. Tickets £25.
🧵 Stitching Celebrations to the Centenary. 04/03-29/03, 12pm-1pm, Mitchell Arts Centre. Celebrate 100 years of Stoke with a woollen thread and a blunt tapestry needle on hessian at Tactile Textiles: Woolly Embroidery, which will honour the city’s industrial roots with smoky coloured thread and pay tribute to our post-industrial future with shades of green. 🚖 Castle Classics is Back! 19/03, 10am-4pm, Ironmarket. From sleek roadsters and powerful muscle cars to vintage scooters and motorbikes, the Castle Classics Classic & Retro Show will also feature vintage clothing, record stalls, DJs, street food vendors plus awards and prizes. Admission free, exhibitors £4, stalls £20.
🎸 Catch 10CC’s Graham Gouldman. 08/03, 7.30pm, New Vic. The co-founder of one of the ‘70s biggest rock bands (I’m Not in Love, The Things We Do for Love) is touring his semi-acoustic show Heart Full of Songs. Tickets £30.
🤖 Calling all Jedis: Visit this Star Wars Exhibition. 01/03-01/06, Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. Between 1977 and 1985, around 300 million Star Wars action figures were snapped up by kids keen to re-enact the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo. With many rarely seen Star Wars treasures and old faves like the Millennium Falcon, The Toys Strike Back is a must-visit for any fans of the franchise. Tickets £6 adults, £4 concessions, £4 children, under 5’s go free.
🍰 Mother’s Day at Wedgwood. 30/03, World of Wedgwood. Show your mum just how much you appreciate her with a decadent Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea with a string duo as a backdrop to scones served on the finest china. Feeling boozy? 🖼️ Art Trail Launch this Weekend. 15/02; Etruria Industrial Museum, 11am-2pm. A Canalside Arcana is a celebration of Stoke’s newest art trail, a series of eight ceramic plaques celebrating nature in the area by artist Anna Francis, from Etruria to Hanley Park. There are guided walks along the trial with the artist, clay activities and a brass band at Hanley Park at 12.30pm. Admission free.
